Are you a good person? Will you go to heaven when you die?

God is the creator of life. (Genesis 1:1)

God is omnipotent (all powerful). Isaiah 43:13, Matthew 19:26, Luke 1:37

God is omniscient (all knowing). Job 34:21, Prov. 15:3, Hebrews 4:12-13

God is omnipresent (always present everywhere at all times). Deut. 33:27, Jer. 23:23-24, Isaiah 57:15

God is perfect, holy, and without sin. Lev. 11:44-45, Matthew 5:48, 1 Peter 15-16

God gave us the 10 commandments as His standard of perfection. Exodus 20:1-17

If you have ever told a lie, stole something, said the Lord's name in vain, etc., then you are a sinner and are condemned. John 3:18, Eph. 2:1-3

If you break one commandment, then you've broken all of them. James 2:10, Galatians 5:9

No one is perfect. Romans 3:23

If you are not perfect, then you can't be with God in heaven when you die because the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23

When you die, you are either with God or without God. Revelation 21:1-8

There isn't anything you can do to earn your way to heaven. Eph.2:8-9

God said there must be a sacrifice to shed blood in order to atone for our sins, and they had to sacrifice animals at the altar (Leviticus 16) but even the innocent animals were not perfect enough.

Only Jesus is perfect (Jesus is God) and led a sinless life (Jesus is human). John 1:1, John 1:14, 1 Peter 2:22, Matthew 3:16

Jesus died on the cross, becoming the perfect sacrifice to pay the penalty for our sin.  John 1:29, John 19, 1 Peter 2:24

Jesus rose from the dead and is alive! John 20-21, Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24

Jesus ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father. Luke 24:51, Mark 16:19, John 1:18

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him (John 3:16-17).

Salvation:

  1. Acknowledge that you have sinned and have fallen short of God's standard of righteousness. Romans 3:23
  2. Believe Jesus, the Son of God, died on the cross paying the penalty for your sins and that He arose from the dead to give you new life. John 1:12, Romans 6:4, John 14:6
  3. Confess out loud that you repent and turn away from your sins and turn to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9-10

The Sinner's Prayer:

"Dear God,

I acknowledge my sins before You. I believe You sent Your Son Jesus to die on the cross to take the penalty for my sins so I could be forgiven. I am sorry for my sins and I want to live the rest of my life the way You want me to. Now I turn away from my sin and turn to Jesus, my Lord and Savior. Thank you, Jesus. Amen."

If you prayed this prayer and are a new believer, then the angels in heaven are rejoicing and praising God! Luke 15:10

If you are new believer, then the next steps are:

  1. Read the Bible Psalm 119:11, 2 Timothy 3:16
  2. Attend a Bible-believing church and have fellowship with other believers Col. 3:15-16, Hebrews 10:24-25, Eph. 4:11-16
  3. Get baptized Matthew 28:19-20, Romans 6:4,

The believer's goal is to become more like Christ. Phil. 1:9-11, Phil 2:12-13, Col. 2:6-7, James 1:25

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5
